Request a Duplicate Title

If your Maryland vehicle title was lost, stolen, damaged, or never received, you can request a duplicate title from the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA).

A duplicate title is a legal replacement for your original title and has the same authority.

When You Need a Duplicate Title

You may need a duplicate title if:

  • Your title was lost or stolen
  • Your title was damaged or unreadable
  • You never received your title after it was issued
  • Your title was destroyed (for example, by fire or flood)

If your name or vehicle information is incorrect on the title, do not request a duplicate title.
Instead, follow the process to correct a title.
