Effective October 1, 2025, rental fleet companies with five or more rental vehicles will have the option to request specific rental registration plates. If a fleet company decides to acquire a new rental registration plate for a vehicle, the fleet company vehicle will not receive a registration sticker for the plate initially but will be required to renew the vehicle registration.  All subsequent renewals will not include a registration sticker.

When registering a new rental vehicle with this new plate, the registration fee will include a onetime fee of $8.50.

To request new rental registration plates for currently registered vehicles, companies can place an order via the rental fleet account on or after October 1, 2025.  There will be a one-time fee of $8.50 per plate and a $40 substitute plate fee per plate.

What does this new plate look like?

The plate scheme will include DR for classes A,E,M,D,F & DRX for class G.

Request for these new plates will be processed and mailed via the U.S. Postal Service. If a business requires the plates to be shipped via an alternative method, please send a prepaid packing slip to the Motor Carrier Division to [email protected] and include your RL Fleet account number in the subject line of the email.

If you have any questions, please contact the Motor Carrier Division directly at 410-787-2951 or by email to [email protected].
