The purpose of this bulletin is to provide clarity regarding the Apprentice Instructor in Class Evaluation Tool and the Apprentice Behind the Wheel Evaluation Sheet.
Apprentice Instructor in Class Evaluation
The Apprentice Instructor in Class Evaluation is a rubric used by the MDOT MVA Compliance Inspectors to assess an instructor’s classroom and facilitation skills. The Compliance Inspectors will be evaluating the instructor based on three main categories (see attached tool for specific subcategories):
- Classroom Management Skill
- Communication Skills
- Knowledge Level
Behind the Wheel Basic Evaluation
The Behind the Wheel Basic Evaluation is used to assess the apprentice candidate’s basic driving skills and their ability to maintain a safe learning environment during behind the wheel instruction.
